Hand-sculpted and cast in bronze using the lost wax method, this delightful, one-of-a-kind bronze sculpted hand will cast the shadow of a rabbit’s head. The positions of the fingers on the Bunny Handling create the shadow puppet that has enchanted children throughout the world for generations. When held in front of a light in a darkened room, this Handling comes to life.

Bringing back nostalgic memories of childhood, the Bunny Handling is a whimsical addition to any cabinet of curiosities, mantlepiece, desk or display. The Bunny Handling will be a treasured gift for the young at heart, artists, bunny lovers, collectors of the unusual, sculpture fans and art enthusiasts. Perfect for birthdays, holidays and special occasions.

Signed open edition. 3/4 scale, 5.5"x 2.5"x 2.25”. Complimentary black velvet gift pouch and free shipping in the continental US included.

Our original Handling design, the majority of the bronze casting process for the Bunny Handling is done by us here at our Santa Fe studio, including the design, sculpting, mold-making, wax pouring and dressing, welding, bronze chasing and patina.

We originally hand-sculpted this piece in clay. After casting, it is meticulously hand-finished and we torch apply a unique patina coloration. The combination of heat and layering creates subtle to striking variations in color, value and pattern that cannot be exactly replicated. As the Handlings are all handmade, no two are identical. To learn more about our creative process, you can visit www.kristinepoole.com and www.colinpoole.com.

Care and feeding for your bronze sculpture: Enjoy your Handling in the way that most delights you. Bronze has been revered as a wonderfully durable material for sculpture for over 2500 years. One of the treasured qualities of bronze is that it responds to its environment. Its patina coloration can mature beautifully with time.

Your Handling either has a light coat of wax or a mist of lacquer followed by wax to help preserve the vibrancy of the patina. Touching your Handling frequently may subtly shift its patina, giving it an even more personal quality. If you prefer to maintain your talisman’s original coloration, you can occasionally give it a very light coat of any clear paste wax, and buff to a sheen with a soft cloth.

Colors look different under various lighting scenarios and on different computer monitors or cell phone screens. While we strive to represent the colors as accurately as possible, due to display screen color variation, there may be slight shifts. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns.
